Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At Calstock Primary School, people and relationships are at the heart of all we do: all our children make our schools special and what is right for them, remain the central focus. Our vision and values recognise these strengths while also reflecting our aspirations, and are at the core of everything we do. We will support the learning and development of children with additional needs and ensure they are fully included in all aspects of school life.
Children with additional needs are identified through a combination of observations of the children as individuals within their classes by our experienced staff, tracking the outcomes of assessments and through discussions with parents. Mrs Steph Cook is our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCo). She works with class teachers and teaching assistants to support learning and development that meets the needs of the child. If you wish to discuss your child's learning, or have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher via email or Class Dojo in the first instance and then should you require further information, please contact Mrs Cook (firstname.lastname@example.org).
We work with a wide range of external agencies to provide the best support for all our children including, but not exclusively:
Speech and Language Therapy (SALT)
Autistic Spectrum Team
The Cognition and Learning Service
Occupational Therapy Service (OT)
